Do You Personally Struggle With Acne Woes?

Most of us have likely struggled with the problem of acne at some point in our lives. Some of us left our acne issues behind in adolescence, while others continue to deal with it for several decades after. Acne is one of the most common skin issues, and it is also one of the most frustrating. If you struggle with acne, you are not alone. And you are not powerless against it; there are concrete steps you can take to deal with your acne.

Acne is caused by a variety of reasons. It is not uncommon to break out when you are very stressed about something, for example. Ironically, your breakout will only make you more stressed, which makes you more prone to breaking out...what a vicious cycle! Women sometimes break out before their menstrual cycle hits. There is some reason to believe that acne has a genetic component to it, as well. When your pores become clogged with dirt and bacteria, acne forms on your skin.

Exercise can often help people who struggle with acne. Exercise has been proven to reduce levels of stress, and we are often much more prone to breaking out when we are stressed. Developing a regular exercise regimen could go a long way towards reducing your stress levels, and, in turn, reducing your acne. You skin is also likely to benefit from the 'exercise glow' that many people who are in shape have!

The market for products that claim to reduce acne is huge; we spend millions of dollars as a nation each year on skin care products that are geared towards targeting acne. Not all of these products, however, do what they claim to do, and because everyone's skin is different, products that work for one person may not be as effective for another person. If you do decide to get some over the counter help in reducing your acne, make sure you do not get products that will dry out your skin, as this can lead to more acne, which is the opposite of what you want!

Some people are not able to get results from over the counter skin care products and opt instead to try prescription medications. If this is an option that you wish to pursue, you can make an appointment with a dermatologist, and he or she should be able to suggest medications that would be the most effective at targeting your kind of acne. He or she may prescribe oral medications or topical medications, or a combination of both types of medication. You will likely need to wait several weeks before seeing results.

Acne can be an extremely troubling condition to struggle with; it has the potential to cause our self esteem to take a nose dive in a flash. Resolve to take charge against acne and be the master of your own skin - you can make changes in your lifestyle and contact a dermatologist if over the counter skin care products do not work for you.
